My favorite group of all time, the INSANE CLOWN POSSE, will return to Indy on April 19 with their STRANGLEMANIA show at the MURAT. No music, no Faygo, just wrestling. It should be a piece of performance art for the ages. It will feature the JCW DEATH RING, the THUMBTACK DEATH MATCH and a BARBED WIRE DEATH MATCH. Tickets are on sale now. My pick for show of the week is the Saturday night show at the PATIO featuring BLIND OTIS and WONDERDRUG. Wonderdrug has released the brand new song Faker as their new single in Indianapolis. The band will be heading West to play some shows in L.A. in early April. PERFECT NOTHING will be playing Friday night at the Rockford Conservation Club in Seymour, Ind., along with TREADWAY, BACKFIST and BLEACHED. The next night, theyll be at the EMERSON with DENT, STEP KINGS, SPITE, KEEL HAUL and CLOSED CASKET. The long-awaited split single with PN and DENT will be on sale at the show. For directions to the Seymour show, check out PNs Web site at www.perfectnothing.com. JOHN WALSH AND THE SINKHOLES have been busy recording their new CD, tentatively titled Sweeten the Deal. You can listen to some pre-release material at http://mp3.com/johnwalsh/, including the short song Victory Garden, which was just recently posted to mp3.com. The band will be finishing up the CD during the summer, and will release it in the fall. You can catch them Friday night at the CELLAR LOUNGE in beautiful Bloomington. Also on that bill will be AIRTIGHT GARAGE. The acclaimed Channel 20 show Across Indiana will be profiling local artist BECKY ARCHIBALD. The show will air Monday, April 3 at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 8 at 6 p.m. Her next live appearance is at the Artsgarden on Sunday, April 30 at 2 p.m. My man TIM BRICKLEY will be playing an acoustic show at CATH Inc. Saturday, April 8 at 8 p.m. COMMANDER SEVEN of DESTINATION:EARTH! is going solo, sort of. Hell be playing Wednesday at 7:40 p.m. during the FUMAGE PRODUCTIONS show. THE JOKERS WILD is a new nightclub located at 188 W. Jefferson St. in lovely Franklin, Ind. Theyll be hosting live music over the next few months. The next show will feature MEDICATED BECKY and DENT as well as DJ JIMMY JAM. On April 7, WHITE NOISE, SWEET EVIL and LOW FLYING HIGH will perform. FAST JOHN SCHARBROUGH has been burning up the Indianapolis charts on mp3.com with his cut Johnnys Blues. Its that rare MP3 thats worth downloading. His DAM CD (ask your kids if you dont know, pappy) is also No. 1 on the Indy charts. Good going, John! HARAKIRI, one of the damned best bands in this area, will be playing a show April 6 at the Muncie YWCA (!) along with BURN IT DOWN, ANODYNE, FINAL HOUR and others. Theyll be at the EMERSON on April 7 with LIVIDITY, UPHEAVAL and FOG. You can find Harakiris excellent album, Reverence for Madness, at most local KARMA and TRACKS stores. The cheap old bastards CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG didnt give away any review tickets, so I have no idea what happened at their Friday night show at the Fieldhouse. Im actually glad I didnt have to go, since to me theyre the poster children for euthanasia. But someone who did go, STEVEN ENGLE, wrote me to complain. I wanted you to know the sound still sucks in the upper level of the Fieldhouse. I could barely hear any drums (only cymbals) and the music was washed out with echo. The vocals (which were pretty good) were the only part clearly discernible. They shouldnt even sell tickets for the upper levels, and if they do, they should be much cheaper. Hmmm. Write your City-County councilman, Steven, because theyre the ones who decided to tear down MARKET SQUARE ARENA. shammer@nuvo.net
