Editor's note: The NUVO news desk just received the following press release from Indianapolis Marion County City-County Council President Maggie Lewis:

INDIANA SUPREME COURT REVERSES SUPERIOR COURT REDISTRICTING DECISION

Indianapolis - Today, the Indiana Supreme Court reversed the decision made by the Marion County Superior Court and determined that, as a matter of judicial restraint, the Republican-drawn maps passed by the Council in 2011 would remain in place.

"The Supreme Court recognized that we made sound and reasonable arguments in support of the trial court's decision, and while we are disappointed with the outcome, we will now focus on winning a majority of the new districts in 2015, stated President Lewis.
