The amended version of HJR 3
has passed the House by a vote of 57-40. If the Senate passes the amended version - - with the second sentence removed - the amendment won't be on the state ballot in November.
Here's the original language:
Only a marriage between one (1) man and one (1) woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Indiana.
A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized.
