Welcome to public transit in Indy. When I was in grad school, my car broke down and I couldn't immediately afford to buy a new one. I worked two jobs that summer, and the last one ended at 11:30pm downtown so I could catch the last bus. Then get off at 38th & Illinois at midnight to jog the mile and a half to my apartment over on Butler's campus. Luckily it was summer!!! Good luck w/ your en devour. I hope they're paying you well and it brings some much needed attention to the issue!
I gotta say if I didn't live a block from where 17 picks me up and work downtown four blocks from where it drops me off I certainly would not be riding IndyGo.
Any attempt I've made at using the system outside of one of the in-out spokes is just a time management disaster.
Good luck to you!!
Its a great illustration of the challenges faced by Indy residents without cars who have to rely on the transit system as its currently designed. We're paying so many opportunity costs in lost wages and tax revenue from it because of a whole population of folks whose mobility is so severely limited. I think your stories of every day transit may help give a vivid demonstration of how a poor transit system hampers individual liberty and opportunity and collectively holds our city back from being all it can really be. Keep writing!
