Jazz for cows

Posted by Katherine Coplen on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 1:55 PM

If you watch one video today, please make it this absolutely delightful rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In"... for cows. And let me tell you, they appreciate it: I've never seen such a rapt audience.

The players are from The New Hot 5, a New Orleans-style jazz band based in Utah.

Paging Doctor Who fans (ahem, Paul Pogue!): Masked Bloomington-based electronic-music producer Shy Guy Says' latest track, "The Doctor," puts the sci-fi series theme through a digital blender.

Check it out below, and let us know what TV show theme-song remixes are your faves. (I'm partial to The Office theme remix ft. Lil Wayne.)

  • The McSweeney's thinking chair.

McSweeney's has yet again proven their ability to answer the perennial questions that probably no one would have ever asked in this short piece entitled “Band Math.”

What mathematical operations were performed, you might find yourself wondering, in order for Jerry Garcia and company to arrive at The Grateful Dead? Answer: Weezer - Air Supply = Grateful Dead.

How about Deadmau5, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Iron Maiden? Find out.

Always clever, often ridiculous, Jonathan San at McSweeney’s has the answers.
