Rep. Andre Carson joined Mayor Ballard and Brian Payne of the Central Indiana Community Foundation in announcing that the Indianapolis Cultural Trail project will receive $20.5 million in federal stimulus funds through the Dept. of Transportation's TIGER program, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The funds put the Cultural Trail over the top in its fund raising and then some -- the extra money will go to help city infrastructure repairs. The funds are expected to reap $800 million in economic benefits and create 10,000 jobs. Rep. Carson's grandmother, Julia, would have been proud.
