Thumbs down: Squandered opportunity

Posted By on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 4:00 AM

Teaching moment missed. Recycling containers are about as hard to find at the Indiana State Fair as an albino steer. The capital of Indiana has a chance to show the entire state how it's done, with recycling containers at every juncture, and it's like, well, the proverbial needle in a haystack to add another corn pone metaphor. With an extra five days of its run (through Aug. 23), the ISF projects up to a million fairgoers. If they all recycled -- and took the recycling ethic back to their home towns (even if their hometown is Indy) -- a la Sam Cooke: What a wonderful world this would be.
