This is part of a series of stories by Kimmel, who's given up her car and is relying primarily on public transit.
The conversation this week seems to be about transit. Maybe it's just the circles I run in, but I have overheard and been a part of numerous talks about the bus system the last several days. It seems the conversations come mainly from people who don't ride the bus, but I wanted to give you a small glimpse of what the people who DO ride the bus talk about.
Overheard on the bus this week...
"Babies are so cute, but you need too many sheets."
Older gentleman to younger woman: "I carry a switchblade to protect myself when riding the bus."
Younger woman: "That's a little too badass for me."
Older gentleman: "Or if you want to skin a tiger."
"Apparently there's this new breed of left-wing feminist nuns who really think that girls should be able to be priests. Those left-wings wanna have their cake and eat it, too, Catholics. Actually, I'd probably be Catholic if I could get divorced."
Random voice from the back of the bus: "Hey, be nice to our nuns!"
Man on phone: "Got a different driver than usual today, so we are running late. But I'm on the same bus as always."( As if the driver makes the bus late... )
Being able to eavesdrop is definitely one of my favorite perks about the bus.
