Review: Three Dollar Bill's Waiting Up

Three Dollar Bill
  • Three Dollar Bill
The six pajama-clad members of Three Dollar Bill spread droll tidings as they wait up for Santa in a second annual Christmas show at IndyFringe Theater.

Claire Wilcher and Chad Woodward are artfully annoying as volunteer mall wrappers with Kardashian worthy vocal fry. Matt Kramer charms as the simple Salvation Army ringer in an understated, sharp sketch about equality. Todd Kenworthy and Jeff Clawson zing acerbic one-liners as caustic Christmas card writers.

A hilarious ongoing bit unwraps St. Nick's cultural origins from France and Italy to Russia, where Will Pfaffenberger is startling as a mirthless Marxist. In all, Waiting Up is a clever and all-too quick night of Christmas fun.

Continues Dec. 20 and 21, 8 p.m. at IndyFringe Basile Theatre; tickets: $20 advance, $25 door.
