The folks at Heartland Truly Moving Pictures made it through a Heartland Film Fest without a CEO/president in place (founder Jeff Sparks officially stepped down in August), but one imagines they don't want to repeat that feat.

Hence, today's appointment of Stuart Lowry as president by Heartland's board. He had been the organization's COO since October 2012.

A published children's author, Lowry has worked for White River State Park, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis and was involved in the formative stages of community radio station 91.9 FM WITT.

The 2013 edition of Heartland Film Festival broke a bunch of in-house records; here's the wrap-up, plus a preview of the fest with quotes from Heartland's Tim Irwin and Greg Sorvig.
